Update
Interested in fishing while you are at our
Panama City Beach Condo?
Over the 4th of July My friend Bill and I went
out with Captain James Pic (850-215-5578). as you
can see we caught some nice Trout and Spanish
Mackerel. I recommend Captain James for your Panama
Bity Beach fishing outings! Good Luck!

Our 4th of July Guests Bill and Susan from
Dallas enjoyed lunch at Margaritaville.

This update is based on reports from our
guests in 1105, Marilyn and Jim from Dallas,
Texas. New
Year’s Eve was beautiful at Celadon Beach sunny and upper
60’s. Kids
played and made sand castles and skim boarders played in the
water all afternoon enjoying the sunny
weather.

Someone had written happy New Year in
Russian on in the sand early in the morning. Jim is studying Russian so
he wrote “you too” in the sand. The original author
spotted Jim while he was shuffling in the sand and they
exchanged greetings. Marilyn and Jim had a
bottle of champagne with the couple who splits time at
Celadon Beach Resort and their other home in St. Petersburg,
Russia.
Dinner at Boar’s Head was nice with lots
of people in festive dress. The evening ended with
fireworks on the beach and a New Year’s champagne
toast.
New Year’s Day was clear a little cooler but the
water was the usual beautiful emerald green splashing
against the white sand. Beautiful clear
sunset.
There are lots of snowbirds visiting Celadon
Beach Resort. Jim noted tags from
Texas, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, Tennessee, Illinois,
Georgia, Alabama, Ohio, Florida and Ontario.
Marilyn and Jim also discovered a new Pizza
place called Ducky’s located a mile west of
Celadon.
Great Pizza and a fun energetic owner. Yes Ducky’s will
deliver to Celadon. As usual the treats
from Antonio’s Bakery down the street were hard to pass
up. They
also enjoyed Mike’s Dinner for breakfast.

Airport -
Update 2008
Lots of stops and starts
for the new Panama City Beach Airport in 2008.
On my way out of town from the 4th of July weekend I took
a short detour from highway 79 approx 4 miles east on
County Road 388 to the airport construction site. I
spent a little time talking with one of the guys working
on the airport entry road. Construction is well
underway. The worker also told me that they are
getting close to pouring the main runway.
YEA! For now the airport seems to be progressing to
a 2010 opening. Follow the activity in my blog
(see the link below). I will provide updates as I
learn more about the
project.
Airport - 2007
Activity
The Panama City newspaper “The News
Herald” listed the new Airport as the Number 3 story in
2007.
I reported earlier that construction on
the new airport started in November and should have been
going full force in December.
The airport is to be built on a 4,000 acre site
near the intersection of Highway 79 and County Road
388.
On November 30, the project hit a major snag in
a New York Court when a Judge ordered an interim stay on
airport construction. The move came at the
request of PFN, one of three groups opposed to the new
airport. The
groups are concerned about damage to wetlands around the
airport site.
The year ended with hope for the airport when a
three judge panel allowed preliminary site work that does
not damage wetlands to proceed.
Court dates are set in mid-January. More to
come…
Bay County Real
Estate
The Number 6 story related to the real
estate market. Bay County seems to be doing OK. Through
October Bay County condo sales roes in every month of 2007
compared to 2006 and 11 percent over 2005. I helped with
those stats
J
However the median condo
price fell 8 percent compared to October 2006 to
$283,000.
Foreclosure rates in Bay County were below the national and
Florida rates.
Other
The other top stories for 2007 related
mostly to local issues such nixing the half-cent sales tax
extension, the jailing of the Girls Gone Wild founder,
school board battles and Bay County’s new Director of the
Tourist Development Council, a new Mayor, a new appraiser
and the firing of the Panama City Medical
Examiner.
Not much beach news to speak of.

We just returned from an enjoyable long weekend
in PCB.
Celadon Beach Resort is in fine shape for the fall and
winter seasons. Lots of people were
there enjoying the fall weather. I noticed cars from
Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Michigan, Alabama,
Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana and of course
Florida. It is a nice time of the year for you to
relax in Panama City Beach.
Airport
Update
NEW NEWS!! The Panama City
Airport Authority has set November 1, 2007 at
9:30 AM as the Ceremonial Groundbreaking for the new
airport. If you need information about the event send
email to patty@pcairport.com.
The new Panama City Airport authority
has received the 404 Permit needed to start the site
work. The new
Panama City Airport will be located north of County
Road 388 and east of State Road 79 which is just a few miles
north of Celadon Beach Resort. The primary carrier runway
will be 8,400 feet, long enough to land any
commercial aircraft in use today or contemplated by airplane
manufactures.
In addition, there will be a 5,000 ft crosswind
runway.
The current project schedule anticipates
commissioning the new Panama City Airport during the
last part of 2009.
We are looking forward to the opening of the
new Panama City Beach Airport!! Hopefully all of us
will benefit from expanded flight options and lower fares
to Panama City Beach.
Food and
Fun
Our children enjoyed eating at the Treasure Ship
Restaurant.
Pam and I had a great meal at the Pasta Grill restaurant,
which is located a block west of the condos on Front
Beach Road.
We also had some great treats from the authentic Italian
bakery next to the Pasta Grill
I am trying to put together information in fun
things to do in Panama City Beach as well as good places
to eat. If
you have suggestions please post tour reviews on our blog
